Archer’s Peppermint Patty
Tactical turtleneck? Check. Delusions of grandeur? Check. A liver that just won’t quit? Oh yeah. Archer never lets you down when in need of good amusement. He is also, as good luck would have it, a bit of a drink aficionado. That’s why, when heading up a snowy mountain and he pours out a steaming cocktail, Alice and I knew we had to recreate it, it’s time for Archer’s Peppermint Patty!
Are you ready for the danger zone?!
You should be.
Or at least wearing your tactical turtleneck (in tacti-cool black, naturally).
When it’s chilly outside, there aren’t many few finer things to warm you up than a nice cup of hot chocolate. A Hot Toddy also works, but that’s another post entirely.
Best friends with chocolate? Mint. True story.
Hence why when driving in an SUV up a snowy hill (set to assassinate an assassin, it’s an important distinction), Archer explains his magnificent drink discovery: dark crème de cacao (dare I say, homemade crème de cacao), peppermint schnapps, crème de menthe and hot chocolate. That’s right, two different types of mint! Those secret agents, they think of everything.
Alice and I set about recreating this, getting the proportions right, getting into the danger zone — you know, important Archer stuff.
A note on the ingredients, specifically the hot chocolate: use whatever you’d like. If you’d like to make your own from scratch, then yes, that’s exactly what you should do. I’m a huge fan of scratch made hot chocolate (Fun fact, it was actually the first thing I ever learned how to make from a recipe — we had this old Hershey’s cookbook, it ended up making like 10 cups every time. Naturally, I was then “forced” to drink the 10 cups as I didn’t think you could tweak the recipe in anyway.). Though, if you want to go the easy route and just use some packaged stuff, that’ll work too. We hold no judgement here.
Now, enough with Archer anecdotes, time for his drink!
