Corpse Reviver #2
Zombies. They’re totally a thing. By that, I mean they’re totally as much of a thing as you want them to be. Do they exist? In literature — 100%. In movies and TV — you bet. In real life — depends on the religion you ask. One thing that you need for a zombie though? A corpse. Then you need to reanimate that corpse and bingo bango you have a zombie. Or, if you’ve had too much to drink, you’ll need something to reanimate your corpse. Hello Corpse Reviver #2!
When it gets towards this time of year and the cooler temperatures (or warmer for you Southern Hemisphere folks), I tend to start looking for drinks that’ll comfort me. And really, when it comes to cold, Halloween comfort, I don’t think you can get much better than absinthe.
That’s right, cold, Halloween-y comfort. It is October after all.
We’re not just talking zombies here though, at least not in the story sense. What I’m really talking about is when you’ve gone out and celebrated a little too heartily. Maybe you’ve had a little bit too much to drink and wake the next morning regretting that seventh Mai Tai. This is for you, my alcohol-induced zombie friend!
Think of the Corpse Reviver #2 as your best friend. It’s a classier way to do breakfast than your standard old Bloody Mary (which I’m also a fan of!). This way, you can skip out on all of those extra non-booze ingredients (looking at you tomato juice, we’re looking for pure revival here) and save those for later.
Small note on the absinthe in the recipe, some people say “one drop, one drop only!” and other say a bit more. I’ll leave that up to you. For me, I like more of a splash. One drop — what’s that? I’ve never been one for subtlety.
