Aperol Spritz
It’s warm outside. You need a refreshing drink. Or maybe it’s brunch and you want something other than a Bloody Mary. Or you’re just looking for another use for champagne (or specifically Prosecco) — you’re in luck, the Aperol Sprtiz to the rescue!
If you’ve never had Aperol, it’s a bitter orange drink (some say too bitter). That makes it a fantastic aperitif that will open your appetite and get your ready for those 12 or 15 trips to the buffet (protip: skip the carbs on the first few rounds, bread is great, but it’s a buffet filler).
The touch of Prosecco in this lightens the drink and adds that kick of refreshment you need when it toasty warm.
For this rendition, I followed the basic recipe on the Aperol site itself with one minor exception: I didn’t add the extra soda water. For me, why add extra non-alcoholic fizz when you already have Prosecco in there? Double it down and you’re a happy camper.
- 1 part Aperol
- 3 parts Prosecco
- Orange slices for garnish
- Glass type: Wine
- Add the ice to the bottom of the glass.
- Pour in the Aperol.
- Top with Prosecco.
- Garnish with orange slice.
- Eat extra at the buffet.
