Seventh Heaven

Sometimes, you just want a classic cocktail. They’re usually not too fussy, don’t involve a whole bunch of super oddball ingredients and are fairly straightforward. That’s not to say I’m against overly fussy cocktails, those certainly have their place, but sometimes, you just want classic and good. For those times, it doesn’t hurt to look to the Savoy and see what they recommend. A real winner in their cocktail repertoire? The Seventh Heaven.

slice grapefruit

Yes, people do indeed call this amazing drink Seventh Heaven. It’s a cocktail that brings you some ethereal enjoyment.

The best part? It’s super simple. There are three whole ingredients for you to hunt down and collect.

First amongst them is gin. Now I know there are some gin haters out there, but don’t fear the herbaceous awesomeness that is gin. Think of it as vodka with character — mostly because that’s what it is, but that’s beside the point.

Gin = good. We good here?

Next, we have freshly squeezed grapefruit. Or freshly squozen grapefruit, depending on if it’s me telling your or Alice. No matter how you say it (I’m a squeezed man myself), spoil yourself and just do it yourself. Yes, it makes a difference and isn’t that hard.

Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

The final ingredient? Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur. This is the real star of the show. The gin provides the backbone, the grapefruit juice gives you the drinkability and the Luxardo brings you the pop.

All good cocktails have a certain X factor, a balance that makes them work. For the Seventh Heaven cocktail, that special something is Luxardo.

Turns out cherry (Luxardo) plus grapefruit with gin (your choice) is indeed something special.

Now let’s get out there and make a Seventh Heaven!
